S.O.S.! We’re a student-run leadership group bringing together the community to increase attendance at schools.
About the problem
A chronically absent student is defined by the California Department of Education as one who “misses at least 10 percent of days in a school year for any reason.” At Canyon Hills High School, the chronic absenteeism is only increasing. This is where we come in.
At Canyon Hills High School…
We aim to inform the community of their resources, compiled here on this website. We also aim to increase connectivity between students, teachers, parents, and administrators utilizing both digital reminders and on-campus events.
…and beyond
The issue of chronic absenteeism is hardly a unique issue to our school environment. Hopefully, as our program gains more traction at Canyon Hills High School, we can expand the Saving Our Seats outreach. Contact us if you’re interested in bringing Saving Our Seats to your school.
